Shillong, 19 August – The Adani Group has issued an official clarification dismissing reports that linked it to Mahabal Cement, following claims that the Assam government had allotted 3,000 bighas of land in Dima Hasao district for a cement plant under the conglomerate’s name.

In a statement from Ahmedabad, the group underlined that Mahabal Cement is neither owned by, nor affiliated with, Adani Group in any way. Mahabal Cement is in fact a subsidiary of JK Lakshmi Cement.

“These reports and references are baseless, false and misleading. Linking the Adani name to Mahabal Cement is mischievous,” an Adani spokesperson said, urging the media, digital platforms, and the public to verify facts before circulating such information.

The statement added:

“It has come to our notice that certain news reports, social media posts and court hearing clips are being circulated, claiming that the Assam Government has allotted 3,000 bighas in Dima Hasao to the Adani Group for a cement plant. We categorically deny these reports. Mahabal Cement is not related to, owned by, or connected with the Adani Group in any manner. We strongly urge fact-checking before sharing such claims, as unverified content misinforms the public and creates unnecessary confusion.”

In Shillong, analysts noted that the clarification is likely to stabilise confidence in local construction and industrial sectors. Traders and investors, who had approached cement and infrastructure-related transactions with caution amid the misinformation, are now expected to regain confidence, supporting steadier activity in the building materials and industrial supply markets.
