Gujarat Cuts Gas Prices For Morbi, Thangadh Ceramic Units

In a major relief for the ceramic industry, the Gujarat government has announced a reduction in natural gas prices for ceramic units located in Morbi and Thangadh–Surendranagar. As part of the decision, Gujarat Gas Limited has lowered the price of natural gas supplied to ceramic manufacturers operating under the minimum guarantee offtake agreement by Rs 4.50 per cubic metre. The revised rates will apply to ceramic units in both Morbi and the Thangadh–Surendranagar cluster.

The price reduction will come into effect from January 1, 2026, offering immediate cost relief to ceramic manufacturers that have been grappling with elevated energy prices. Gujarat Gas Limited has already communicated the revised tariffs to the concerned industrial units across the two regions.

Industry representatives welcomed the move, saying the lower gas prices would help reduce production costs, improve price competitiveness and support growth in the ceramic sector, which is a key contributor to Gujarat’s industrial economy.
