Oil India Unlocks Gas Potential in Dandewala Field Rajasthan

Oil India has reported a modest but significant gas discovery in the nominated Dandewala field in Rajasthan, marking a new development for the company. The company said the appraisal well recorded an average inflow of 25,000 standard cubic metres per day from a depth of about 950 metres, indicating encouraging deliverability. This is the first successful demonstration of gas presence in the shallower Sanu Formation within the field and opens a new play in the area.

The result validates the operator's strategy of revisiting subsurface potential through focused technical interventions and a missed opportunities approach aimed at identifying bypassed pays and overlooked reservoirs. Technical and petrophysical analysis was cited as critical to the identification and targeting of the shallower interval. The company indicated that the finding supports further work to appraise and delineate the discovery.

Preliminary estimates based on structural control and subsurface studies indicate gas in place of about 75 million standard cubic metres (mn scm), which materially enhances the prospectivity of the Dandewala field. The mn scm figure will guide follow-up appraisal and will inform development planning and resource assessment. The discovery is expected to shape decisions on well spacing, reservoir management and potential production ramp up. Operational teams will undertake further interpretation and testing to firm up volumes and flow characteristics.

The disclosure was made in a press release submitted under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015 and was issued by the Public Relations Department in Noida on 22 May 2026. The development is likely to feature in the company’s ongoing appraisal programme for Rajasthan blocks. Further technical details will be released as appraisal efforts progress.
