Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has commenced natural gas sales from the Chinnewala Tibba field, located in Rajasthan’s Kutch Onland Exploratory Asset (RKOEA), marking a new milestone in its efforts to bolster domestic energy production. The production, under the Discovered Small Field (DSF-II) Block RJ/ONDSF/Chinnewala/2018, officially began on 25 August 2025.
According to a company press release, this development marks the successful monetisation of the Chinnewala Tibba field and highlights ONGC’s continued commitment to strengthening India’s energy security, aligned with the goals of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG).
Situated near the Indo-Pak international border in Western Rajasthan, the 73 sq. km block is home to promising natural gas reserves. ONGC has started gas sales at a rate of 100,000 standard cubic metres per day, which will help meet regional energy demand and support the local supply chain.
The extracted gas is being supplied to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) in Ramgarh via ONGC’s Gamnewala Gas Collection Station (GCS). This milestone was made possible through close collaboration with key entities including the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), GAIL, Oil India Limited (OIL), and RRVUNL, ensuring seamless integration into the regional power grid.
Officials at the inauguration noted that this achievement demonstrates ONGC’s focus on efficient project execution, resource monetisation, and value generation within the DSF framework. It further reinforces ONGC’s role as a strategic enabler in the Government of India’s mission to achieve energy independence.
