Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation for Suzlon Energy's 1,325 megawatt (MW) wind energy projects in Anantapur district on 25 August, marking an investment of Rs 105 billion (Rs 105 bn). The state government press release said the projects will support 1,600 direct and indirect jobs as they move into construction and installation phases. The initiative was presented as part of a wider effort to scale renewable capacity and provide dependable clean power for expanding industrial and technology clusters across the state.

Lokesh also inaugurated an expanded smart blade manufacturing facility at Anantapur that now includes two additional production lines intended to boost local manufacturing of key components. The expanded facility has an annual capacity of 1,260 megawatt (MW) and is reported to support more than 1,200 direct and indirect green jobs in the region. The development was described as strengthening the state's renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem and enhancing supply chain resilience for future wind projects.

The minister framed the projects as an important milestone that reflects growing confidence among renewable energy companies in Andhra Pradesh's policy framework and investment environment. He underlined the government's commitment to building a world-class clean energy ecosystem to underpin the next phase of industrial and economic growth and said sustained partnerships would be essential to accelerate deployment. Officials indicated that such collaborations would contribute to job creation, attract further investment and help position the state as a major clean-energy hub in India.

The investment builds on Suzlon's more than two-decade association with Andhra Pradesh, with the company said to have enabled investments totalling Rs 155 bn and to be executing 1,600 megawatt (MW) of wind projects in the state. The company is reported to provide skill development training to 12,000 young people, including 3,000 women, through centres in Uravakonda and Vijayawada to support workforce readiness. The press release noted that as the state experiences rapid industrial and technology-led growth, demand for reliable and clean energy is expected to increase significantly.
