Websol Energy System has received approval from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for setting up a greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility at the Multi-Product Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ), Naidupeta, in Tirupati district. The approval has been granted through a Government Order issued by the state’s Industries & Commerce Department.
The clearance follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Websol and the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) on November 15, 2025, marking a key milestone in the company’s capacity expansion plans. With this approval, Websol moves closer to executing its large-scale manufacturing strategy aligned with India’s renewable energy and domestic manufacturing objectives.
As part of the project, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has extended a comprehensive incentive package to support the investment. These incentives include allotment of land, fixed capital investment subsidy, power tariff reimbursement, exemption from electricity duty, subsidy on industrial water charges, and exemption from stamp duty and other registration charges. The incentives are expected to improve project viability and enhance long-term competitiveness.
In addition to the solar cell and module lines, Websol plans to develop a 100 MW captive solar power plant at the facility. The captive unit will ensure reliable access to renewable energy for manufacturing operations while contributing to operating cost efficiencies and sustainability goals.
Commenting on the approval, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director, Websol Energy System Limited, said, “As India advances its renewable energy ambitions alongside the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the approval received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh allows Websol to make a meaningful and exciting contribution with its own expansion plans. The supportive industrial ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh provides a strong manufacturing platform for executing our 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module growth strategy.”
The project reinforces Websol’s commitment to strengthening India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem while supporting the country’s clean energy transition and self-reliance objectives.
