Websol Energy System Limited has received approval from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its proposed greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing project. The approval was granted through a government order issued by the state’s Industries and Commerce Department.

The manufacturing facility will be set up at MPSEZ in Naidupeta, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. The approval follows a memorandum of understanding signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board on 15 November 2025.

Under the government order, Websol will be eligible for an incentive package that includes land allotment support, fixed capital investment subsidy, power tariff reimbursement, exemption from electricity duty, subsidy on industrial water charges, and exemptions from stamp duty and registration charges.

As part of the project, the company also plans to develop a 100 MW captive solar power plant. The captive facility is expected to ??????? reliable access to renewable energy for the manufacturing operations while improving operating cost efficiencies.

Commenting on the approval, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director of Websol Energy System Limited, said the government order enables the company to contribute meaningfully to India’s renewable energy ambitions and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He added that Andhra Pradesh’s supportive industrial ecosystem provides a strong foundation for executing Websol’s solar cell and module expansion strategy and that the company will continue to update stakeholders as the project progresses.
