Andhra Pradesh aims to complete 228 PM-KUSUM solar projects by December as part of a state drive to accelerate decentralised renewable energy deployment. The projects form part of the Centre's PM-KUSUM scheme and include installation of solar pumps and grid-connected solar plants to support agricultural needs and rural electrification. State officials described the schedule as ambitious but achievable and said implementation focuses on timely commissioning and beneficiary mobilisation. The announcement follows recent approvals and project allocations made by state authorities to speed up renewable adoption.

The state nodal agency and distribution companies are coordinating district-level teams to ensure procurement, site readiness and technical support. Work is prioritised in areas with high agricultural demand and where grid constraints can be eased by local generation, according to project briefings. Contractors are being monitored against progress milestones and provisions for operation and maintenance have been integrated into contracts. Quality checks and asset registration are being standardised to facilitate long-term performance tracking.

Completion of the 228 projects is expected to add decentralised capacity and to provide farmers with uninterrupted power for irrigation, while reducing dependence on diesel and lowering operational costs. Officials noted that the scheme will also promote local employment through installation and maintenance activities and will complement larger renewable targets set by the state. Training for technicians and awareness campaigns for beneficiaries have been scheduled to improve adoption and long-term sustainability. Stakeholders have been urged to streamline supply chains to prevent delays in component delivery.

The timeline to December aims to align commissioning with the cropping calendar and to deliver benefits before peak irrigation periods. State authorities will report periodic progress to central agencies and adjust logistics where necessary to meet the deadline. Successful delivery of the projects would strengthen the state record on renewable deployment and on-grid resilience.
