BMW Industries partners with IOCL for PNG supply at Bokaro plant

BMW Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) for the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG), reinforcing its commitment to adopting cleaner and more efficient energy sources for its operations.

The agreement was signed at the Eastern Region Pipelines (ERPL) headquarters in Kolkata. The partnership is expected to support the company’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Bokaro by facilitating the use of natural gas as a primary energy source.

According to the company, the adoption of PNG will help enhance operational efficiency while also contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions associated with manufacturing processes. The move aligns with BMW Industries’ broader focus on sustainable industrial practices and responsible manufacturing.

Natural gas is considered a relatively cleaner fossil fuel compared with conventional industrial fuels. Its use in manufacturing processes can improve energy efficiency and lower environmental impact, making it an increasingly preferred option for companies seeking to align operations with sustainability goals.

Commenting on the development, Harsh Bansal, Managing Director, BMW Industries Limited, said, “BMW Industries is pleased to partner with Indian Oil Corporation Limited for the supply of Piped Natural Gas. This partnership reinforces BMW Industries’ commitment to sustainable industrial practices, while also strengthening its long-standing collaboration with leading public sector enterprises, while supporting our efforts to adopt cleaner and more efficient energy sources for our operations. We believe this partnership will further strengthen our operational ecosystem while aligning with our broader focus on sustainable and responsible manufacturing practices.”

The collaboration also reflects a broader industry shift towards cleaner energy solutions as companies seek to balance operational growth with environmental responsibility.
