BMW Industries Limited (BMWIL), a steel processing company, reported a 25.8 per cent year-on-year increase in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 191.2 million for Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 152 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Total income increased 15.1 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1.77 billion from Rs 1.54 billion in Q1 FY26. EBITDA rose 22.2 per cent to Rs 443.7 million from Rs 363.1 million, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 147 basis points to 25.1 per cent from 23.6 per cent.
PAT margin improved by 92 basis points to 10.8 per cent from 9.9 per cent in Q1 FY26. Diluted earnings per share increased to Rs 0.85 from Rs 0.67 in the year-ago period.
The company said its quarterly performance was supported by improving utilisation of its downstream capacities. Its Rolling Mill business achieved annualised capacity utilisation of around 83.5 per cent, while the Pipes & Tubes business operated at approximately 40.1 per cent utilisation.
BMW Industries expects increasing production volumes to support higher throughput, operating leverage and margins. The company plans to drive its next phase of growth through improved utilisation of existing conversion capacities and new downstream facilities being established at Bokaro.
The company also plans to operate a balanced business model combining its traditional conversion operations with a proprietary supply model, under which it will directly source input materials and supply finished products to capture greater value across the chain and diversify its customer base.
Its Greenfield Downstream Steel Complex at Bokaro is progressing as planned, with revenue generation expected to commence in Q2 FY27. BMW Industries said the facility will strengthen its value-added product portfolio and expand its manufacturing capabilities.
For FY26, BMW Industries reported total income of Rs 6.80 billion, EBITDA of Rs 1.80 billion and PAT of Rs 811.2 million.
