Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals has secured a Rs 1 billion order from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) for the design, manufacture, and installation of 4,500 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra.
The order, awarded under Component B of the PM-KUSUM scheme launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, represents Crompton’s largest-ever solar pumping systems contract in the solar-water management segment.
The project scope includes the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and five-year maintenance of the solar pumps at various rural locations. These systems aim to replace diesel-powered water pumps with clean and sustainable solar-powered alternatives, aligning with national goals for rural electrification and farmer support.
Rajat Chopra, Business Head – Home Electricals & Pumps at Crompton, remarked, “This milestone not only marks our largest solar pump order to date but also reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance pumping solutions tailored to the needs of farmers across India.”
As the PM-KUSUM scheme targets the deployment of nine million off-grid solar pumps nationwide, Crompton is actively participating in tenders across multiple states. The company has already secured contracts in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, and plans to expand operations into Madhya Pradesh.
The order highlights Crompton’s growing role in India’s clean energy transition, particularly in boosting rural infrastructure through solar adoption.
