Cyient Semiconductors Launches India First GaN Power IC Family
The initial range targets applications in AI data centres, telecommunications, consumer fast charging, industrial power systems and e-mobility charging platforms. GaN technology offers higher switching speeds, lower conduction losses and improved thermal efficiency compared with traditional silicon, enabling smaller solutions, simplified thermal management and higher system performance. The devices are supplied in DPAK packages that combine drive, control and protection functions with integrated EMI management and current sensing.
Under a licensing agreement, Cyient Semiconductors will use Navitas technology in India and will act as a second source for select Navitas devices already in mass production, which the companies said would strengthen supply chain resilience and provide local support. The partnership was described as aligning with domestic sourcing initiatives and intended to accelerate adoption of GaN power solutions. Cyient Semiconductors indicated that sampling of the first products is expected to begin by June 2026.
The firm plans to expand its GaN portfolio through partnerships with local outsourced assembly and test providers, adopting a phased approach that prioritises ecosystem readiness and scale. Over time the licensing arrangement is intended to enable domestic manufacture of GaN power devices as demand grows and the market matures. The company presented the roadmap as creating a pathway toward deeper technology participation and indigenous value creation.
Customers were directed to contact Cyient Semiconductors for datasheets, samples and technical support, and a list of part numbers was provided including CYPG6148CQ, CYPG6146CQ and CYPG6143CQ. The devices offer varying on resistance to suit different topologies and power densities. The launch was positioned as a foundation for broader adoption of GaN based power solutions in India.
