To make Delhi the electric vehicle (EV) capital of India, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has set up an EV cell aiming at accelerating the implementation of its policy.

The EV cell will work under the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC). DTIDC especially manages the city’s interstate bus terminals and bus shelters, besides catering to the infrastructural needs of the transportation department.

The state government has invited applications for the recruitment process of a chief executive officer for the EV cell, besides two deputy directors and two young professionals contract-based for two years.

The CEO will have a monthly salary of Rs 2.3 lakh and the deputy directors more than Rs two lakh. Young professionals will receive a salary of Rs 75,000 per month.

Minister of Transport, Kailash Gahlot, said that in the past two years, the Ministry had made significant progress in implementing the policy through various initiatives like induction of electric buses, single-window facility, installation and disbursal of subsidies and reserving e-auto permits for women. He said that by setting up the EV cell and increasing human resource capacity, the Ministry could attract the best talent to give a boost to the EV vision.

The state government told the media that the primary objective would be to support and accelerate the implementation of Delhi EV Policy 2020. It will be done through various measures, including facilitating disbursement of demand incentives in vehicle segments and EV charging stations through a transparent and quick platform, deploying EV charging infrastructure in partnership with other departments, identifying measures to prepare recommendations for further policy revisions to promote EV in Delhi.
