Farmers Seek Relief Over Damage From 765 KV Power Grid
The farmers, accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra and former Kalwakurthy MLA Jaipal Yadav, met the Minister in New Delhi on Monday and submitted a formal representation. The delegation’s visit was organised under the guidance of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.
The farmers informed the Minister that ongoing work by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has severely impacted farmlands, leading to substantial losses and hardship for several families. They urged the Union government to intervene immediately to ensure that the project does not further endanger their livelihoods and agricultural productivity.
Leaders of the Telangana State Sarpanches’ Association, including Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy, Pippala Venkatesh, Kadari Ramakrishna, Guduru Pentareddy, Guda Parvatala, Jella Sivarama Krishna, and Kyama Satyam, presented detailed accounts of the damage to the Minister, demanding fair compensation and remedial action.
Both MP Ravichandra and Jaipal Yadav reiterated the need for the government to take urgent measures to protect the interests of the affected farmers and ensure that infrastructure projects are implemented with minimal disruption to agriculture.
Responding positively, Minister Khattar assured the delegation that the matter would be reviewed with senior officials and that appropriate steps would be taken to resolve the issue in consultation with relevant authorities.
The meeting has raised hopes among farmers that their grievances will be addressed and that future power grid works will include safeguards to prevent agricultural damage.
