Shri Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, inaugurated the installation of a 45 kW on-grid solar power system at a water pumping station in North Goa district under IREDA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The solar system is expected to generate around 60,000 units of electricity annually, achieving 100 per cent solarisation of the station’s pumping load. The project aims to demonstrate how renewable energy can be effectively utilised to power public water distribution systems in a sustainable and cost-efficient manner.
In a message, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), stated, “This initiative reinforces IREDA’s mission to extend clean energy beyond financing into community development. Solarisation of essential public services, such as water pumping stations, can serve as a replicable model for India’s sustainable energy transition.”
Officials from IREDA’s CSR team, the Goa Drinking Water Department, and local authorities were present at the inauguration ceremony.
The initiative reflects IREDA’s broader vision to promote renewable integration across community infrastructure, aligning with the national goals of energy efficiency, sustainability, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
