Kolkata Vendor Meet Aims to Accelerate Rooftop Solar

West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and REC Limited recently organised a National and State Vendor Meet in Kolkata to strengthen the implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and accelerate rooftop solar installations across West Bengal.

The meeting was chaired by Santanu Basu, Principal Secretary, Power Department, Government of West Bengal, and attended by officials from REC, CESC and the state government, along with national and state vendors and training partners.

Basu highlighted the need for coordinated participation by national and state vendors to strengthen implementation of the scheme. He reiterated the commitment of the state government, REC, WBSEDCL, DISCOMs, financial institutions and other stakeholders to accelerating rooftop solar adoption.

S Jayanthi, Executive Director, REC, presented the nodal agency's perspective on the scheme and urged national vendors to deploy adequate manpower in West Bengal. She also encouraged brand owners to expand their channel partner networks to support faster rooftop solar installations.

REC officials Devinder and Raman Garg also discussed measures to increase vendor participation, maintain the quality of rooftop solar plants and strengthen vendor ratings. The presentation also covered training and capacity-building provisions available to vendors under the scheme.

The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss implementation challenges, improve coordination and identify measures to increase the pace of rooftop solar installations across West Bengal.
