Maharashtra Seeks PPP Bids For 200 MW Floating Solar And 22.5 MW Hydro

The Water Resources Department of the Government of Maharashtra has invited bids from eligible contractors and developers for two renewable energy projects in Parbhani and Hingoli districts under a public–private partnership model. The Executive Engineer of the Purna Irrigation Division at Basmathnagar issued the notice as E?Tender No. 02 for the financial year 2026–27. The tender covers redevelopment of an existing hydroelectric plant and the development of a floating solar and storage facility on the Purna reservoir.

The first project involves the upgradation, operation, maintenance and management of the existing 22.5 Megawatt (MW) Yeldari Dam Hydroelectric Plant, part of the Purna Irrigation Project. The department intends to improve operational efficiency, ensure effective maintenance and maximise renewable power generation from the hydro resource. The asset will be offered to selected developers under the PPP framework with performance obligations set out in the bid documents.

The second project seeks development of a 200 MW floating solar photovoltaic project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on the reservoir surface. The plan aims to use available water surface area for clean energy generation while adding storage capacity to support grid stability and improve renewable utilisation. Integration with the hydro asset is identified as an important operational consideration.

The tender document was issued on 24 July 2026 and detailed bid documents are available from 28 July 2026 to 11 August 2026, with technical bids due to be opened on 12 August 2026. The preliminary notice does not include details of earnest money deposit or performance bank guarantee and directs bidders to consult the Maharashtra government e?tendering portal for full bid security and financial requirements. All bidding activities must be completed online and bidders are advised to monitor the portal for any corrigendum or modifications as the department will not issue separate notifications through other media channels.
