The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will host the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on 15 June 2026 under the theme Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration. The event will be led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and aims to highlight measures for accelerating wind energy deployment in India.

Senior officials from the ministry and key agencies will attend, including the Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik and Secretary MNRE Santosh Kumar Sarangi. Representatives from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) and Grid India will participate alongside leading state governments and industry bodies such as the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association, WIPPA and IWPA.

India is now the world's fourth-largest wind power market with targets of 100 GW by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035, contributing to a broader goal of 500 GW of non-fossil capacity and net-zero emissions by 2070. The conference will reflect on the record six point one GW addition in 2025–26 and discuss measures to improve execution and scale up domestic manufacturing. The minister observed that the next phase requires acceleration and that India seeks to position its industry to capture export opportunities.

The programme will showcase plenary sessions and panel discussions bringing together government, regulators, developers, manufacturers and technical experts to identify practical steps for resource adequacy, grid readiness and renewable energy firming. Several industry reports and knowledge papers will be unveiled, including a study on elevating India's wind turbine exports for global markets that outlines pathways to enhance competitiveness and supply chain strength. Organisers will seek to translate recommendations into a roadmap for sustained expansion and to mark Global Wind Day 2026 as a milestone in India's clean energy transition.
