NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned an additional 62.5 megawatt (MW) of solar capacity in Rajasthan, raising the group's commercial capacity from 10,453.90 MW to 10,516.40 MW, the company said in a regulatory filing. The incremental capacity consists of second-phase completions at two Rajasthan projects and will improve the company's operational availability for contracted supply.\n\nThe first completion added 12.5 MW, taking cumulative output at that 150 MW project to 100 MW. That installation forms part of Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of the ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited joint venture, and was declared commercially operational with effect from May 15, 2026. The second completion added 50 MW at a 300 MW project, taking its cumulative capacity to 200 MW and was also declared commercially operational from 00:00 hrs on May 15, 2026.\n\nIn an investor call, the parent NTPC group outlined a construction pipeline of over 33 gigawatt (GW), comprising 16.5 GW of coal-based plants, around 1.9 GW of hydro capacity and nearly 15 GW of renewable energy capacity. The filing said the pipeline provides a foundation for near- to medium-term growth. The company positioned the additions as part of a broader drive to diversify its generation mix.\n\nThe filing also addressed curtailment, noting that NTPC Green Energy had lost approximately 420 million (mn) units of generation due to curtailment in the first nine months, while NREL recorded losses of about 212 mn units. Management indicated that curtailment losses for NTPC Green Energy would be eliminated after commissioning of the Narela K3 transmission line. It added that minor curtailment at other locations was likely to ease as guarantees of network access are firmed up sequentially.
