NTPC REL Floats BoS Tender For 900 MW Solar Project

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has issued a tender inviting bids for the Balance of System (BoS) package to develop a 900 megawatt (MW) grid connected solar project at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The project comprises one 500 MW and one 400 MW unit and the last date for submission of bids is 5 June 2026. The selected contractor will execute end to end delivery excluding the supply of solar modules and will handle design, engineering, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning.

Scope of work covers site preparation including land grading, vegetation clearance, topographical surveys and geotechnical investigations, together with foundation works and tracker based module mounting structures. The contractor will undertake module installation, interconnection and provision of construction utilities such as power and water. All associated electrical and civil infrastructure required for grid connectivity is within the contract scope, including transformers, panels, protection systems, cables and metering at the 33 kV level.

Power evacuation responsibilities extend to delivery up to the 33 kV main pooling switchgear at the owner's pooling substation. Bidders must meet minimum financial criteria linked to the capacity they seek. For the 400 MW block the required funding is Rs 710 mn, while the 500 MW block requires Rs 887.5 mn. Bidders proposing the full 900 MW capacity must demonstrate Rs 1,597.5 mn.

Qualification conditions require referenced projects to have been operational for at least one year for industrial projects outside the renewable sector and at least six months for projects within solar or wind. The announcement follows ongoing solar activity in Andhra Pradesh, where firms have advanced large scale plants in Kurnool and entered long term power purchase arrangements. The tender process is positioned to attract firms capable of comprehensive BoS delivery for utility scale deployment.
