Oyster Renewable Begins Phase 2 Hybrid Project in Madhya Pradesh
Mahendra Solanki, Member of Parliament from Dewas, laid the foundation stone in the presence of Madhu Gehlot, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Agar, and Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oyster Renewable Energy. The company said the second phase builds on the first phase, which has already been commissioned.
The project has been designed for an operational life of more than 30 years. It forms part of Oyster Renewable Energy’s plan to establish approximately 800 MW of hybrid renewable energy capacity in Madhya Pradesh, backed by a planned investment exceeding Rs. 65 bn.
The initiative is expected to support more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, while creating opportunities for local suppliers, contractors and service providers. Once the planned capacity becomes operational, the projects are expected to generate more than 4.5 bn units of clean electricity annually.
The integration of wind, solar and battery storage is intended to improve supply consistency and meet the electricity requirements of commercial and industrial consumers. Bhatia said the Agar Malwa region’s wind and solar resources made it suitable for hybrid renewable energy development, while Phase 2 would support the company’s objective of supplying more consistent clean power.
Madhya Pradesh forms an important part of Oyster Renewable Energy’s wider growth strategy, which targets 3.5 GW of capacity. The company said it would continue working with the state administration and local communities to advance its renewable energy plans.
