Saatvik Green Energy Acquires 80 Per Cent Stake In Melcon
Prashant Mathur, chief executive officer of Saatvik Green Energy Limited, described the move as part of an effort to build an ecosystem that supports India's energy transition and deepen control across the power value chain. He framed the integration of transformer manufacturing as a way to improve execution speed, strengthen quality assurance and create a more resilient and responsive supply chain. The company said the acquisition aligns with a shift from a focus on solar module manufacturing towards integrated energy solutions.
Melcon supplies transformers that act as bridges between generation and consumption and the acquisition is expected to enable Saatvik to integrate manufacturing into its operations and expand its presence in power transmission equipment. The combined operations are intended to support faster project delivery and tighter coordination between component supply and installation. The deal is likely to offer Saatvik greater control over product specifications and timetables across transmission and distribution projects.
India is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and transmission and distribution infrastructure is expected to play a key role alongside generation capacity. Industry analysts note that strengthened domestic manufacturing in critical components can reduce dependence on imports and improve localisation of supply chains. Saatvik positioned the acquisition as part of broader efforts to enable reliable integration of renewable capacity into the grid.
