SAEL Commissions 298 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan’s Jalore District

SAEL Industries, an integrated renewable energy company, has commissioned a 200 MW (AC) / 298 MW (DC) solar power project in Rajasthan’s Jalore district through its subsidiary Sunfree Energy RJP1.

Spread across more than 1,000 acres, the project was commissioned on 17 August 2025 ahead of its Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD). A 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd. (RUVITL) on 20 February 2024 at a tariff of Rs 2.61 per kWh.

The plant utilises advanced TOPCon solar PV modules featuring 146-cell and 156-cell configurations with peak outputs of up to 635 WP and efficiency levels of up to 22.95 per cent. More than 80 per cent of the modules were sourced from SAEL’s solar manufacturing facility in Kishangarh, Rajasthan. The project site ensures seamless grid integration and minimises transmission losses.

“This project is significant for us as it is the largest solar power plant developed by SAEL that is connected to a State Transmission Utility,” said Laxit Awla of SAEL Industries. “Our focus remains on creating solutions that strengthen energy independence and sustainability in the renewable energy sector.”

The project supports Rajasthan’s efforts to strengthen electricity supply. Earlier this year, RUVNL petitioned the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) to procure 500 MW of round-the-clock power to balance surplus daytime solar generation and meet peak demand. The initiative is part of a broader push to ensure reliable, uninterrupted power for the state’s distribution companies.
