SAEL Industries Limited has commissioned an 800 MW solar power project at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat, taking its total operational renewable energy capacity beyond 2 GWp and strengthening its position in India’s utility-scale solar sector.

The project has been developed through two subsidiaries—SAEL Solar P4 Private Limited and SAEL Solar P5 Private Limited—each with a capacity of 400 MW (500 MWp). The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, located near India’s western border, is being developed as one of the world’s largest renewable energy complexes.

Electricity generated from the newly commissioned solar plants will be sold under 25-year power purchase agreements with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, ensuring long-term revenue visibility. The project uses more than 1.5 million TOPCon bifacial solar modules, with over 60 per cent of the modules assembled at SAEL’s manufacturing facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan.

The solar installations span nearly 3,600 acres and were constructed in a region characterised by saline soil and seasonal flooding. Parts of the site reportedly remain submerged under up to one metre of water during the monsoon, presenting significant engineering and construction challenges.

The Khavda commissioning forms part of SAEL’s broader expansion strategy across the renewable energy value chain. In November 2025, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority allotted 200 acres of land to the company for an integrated solar manufacturing facility with 5 GW cell and 5 GW module capacity in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

SAEL Industries operates across utility-scale solar power, agri waste-to-energy projects and solar module manufacturing. As of September 2025, the company had a portfolio of around 8.3 GWp of contracted and awarded solar and battery energy storage system projects, along with 3.6 GW of solar module assembly capacity and approximately 165 MW of agri waste-to-energy capacity.
