Servotech Wins 1,415 kW Solar Rooftop Project From South Central Railway

Servotech Renewable Power System has secured a 1,415 kilowatt (kW) rooftop solar project from South Central Railway, according to Energetica India Magazine. The contract covers design, supply and installation of photovoltaic arrays on station rooftops and ancillary buildings within the South Central Railway zone. The company will also provide operations and maintenance services as part of the award.

The system capacity of 1,415 kW is intended to offset a portion of the railway zone's daytime electricity consumption and enhance energy self-sufficiency at the identified sites. Servotech will deploy module mounting, inverters and balance of system components compatible with the existing electrical infrastructure. Work is planned to align with standard railway safety and asset management protocols.

The project aims to reduce grid dependence and lower operational electricity costs for station operations and service facilities. It also forms part of broader efforts by rail operators to integrate renewable generation into their asset portfolios and support national decarbonisation objectives. The installation is presented as a scalable model for further rooftop deployments across transportation assets.

Installation and commissioning are scheduled to proceed in phases to minimise disruption to railway services and ensure compliance with regulatory and technical clearances. Servotech will coordinate with railway engineers to sequence works around operational requirements and maintenance windows. The firm will also manage interfaces with local utilities for grid interconnection where required.

The award adds to a growing pipeline of commercial and institutional rooftop solar projects in the country and highlights private sector participation in clean energy delivery for public infrastructure. Industry analysts note that rooftop projects on transport assets can deliver rapid deployment and tangible energy savings when executed with operational discipline. Servotech regarded the contract as reinforcing its positioning in the commercial rooftop segment.
