WattPower, First Solar Host Solar Connect to Boost Agri-Solar in Telangana

WattPower, a renewable energy solutions provider, in collaboration with First Solar, hosted a high-level industry roundtable titled ‘Solar Connect’ at Vivanta, Hyderabad. The event focused on advancing agri-solar deployment in Telangana under the PM-KUSUM scheme. 

The session brought together policymakers, clean energy experts, and project stakeholders to address the core challenges in scaling agri-solar infrastructure. The agenda included technical presentations by both companies and a panel discussion moderated by Pavit Gandhi, Director, Sales, WattPower. 

The panel, titled “Unlocking PM-KUSUM: Bridging Gaps in Implementation, Financing, and Infrastructure for Agri-Solar Scale-Up in Telangana,” explored issues such as EPC contractor roles, financing for small-scale developers, DISCOM grid readiness, land ownership and leasing, farmer participation, rural employment potential, digital tracking tools, and required policy reforms. 

Shri Ajay Mishra, Former Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the need for integrated efforts across stakeholders to maximise the scheme’s impact.

The event reaffirmed the role of collaborative platforms in accelerating agri-solar adoption and supporting rural empowerment under India's renewable energy vision.
