Bandag, a global leader in tyre retreading solutions, has signed an agreement with Tegeta Motors to establish a state-of-the-art Tegeta Bandag Factory in Rustavi, Georgia, marking a major step in expanding sustainable mobility solutions across the Caucasus region. Backed by an initial investment of $2 million, the facility will be Bandag’s first retreading plant in the region and is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting environmentally responsible fleet operations.

Developed in collaboration with Tegeta Motors and supported by Bridgestone Middle East and Africa (MEA), the factory is scheduled to begin construction this year, with completion targeted for late 2026. The plant is designed to produce up to 5,000 retreaded tyres annually in its initial phase, with capacity projected to double within five years to meet growing regional demand.

The project reinforces Bandag’s commitment to circular mobility by extending tyre life cycles, reducing waste, and lowering carbon emissions. Through Bandag’s global expertise and advanced technology, the facility will introduce internationally recognised retreading standards aimed at delivering cost-efficient and sustainable solutions for commercial fleets. Initially, the plant will focus on retreading tyres for buses and trucks, ensuring compliance with global safety and performance benchmarks.

The factory will be equipped with advanced Bandag machinery sourced from Europe and the United States, with construction oversight provided by Bridgestone and Bandag representatives to ensure adherence to global quality standards. Retreaded tyres offer 30–40 per cent cost savings compared with new tyres while delivering comparable performance and a service life of up to five years.
