The Indian government has
extended the compliance
deadline for the Machinery and
Electrical Equipment Safety
(Omnibus Technical Regulation)
Order, 2024, from 28 August
2025 to 1 September 2026.
This extension allows domestic
and foreign manufacturers more
time to meet updated BIS safety
standards for machines placed
on the Indian market. From the
new deadline, a BIS licence will
be mandatory for all listed
machines. Separate dates will
be announced for assemblies,
sub-assemblies, and
components. The move supports
industry readiness while
ensuring safety compliance.
