India extends BIS deadline for machinery to Sept 2026

The Indian government has extended the compliance deadline for the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024, from 28 August 2025 to 1 September 2026. This extension allows domestic and foreign manufacturers more time to meet updated BIS safety standards for machines placed on the Indian market. From the new deadline, a BIS licence will be mandatory for all listed machines. Separate dates will be announced for assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components. The move supports industry readiness while ensuring safety compliance.
