Amitabh Bachchan Invests Rs 900 mn in Ayodhya, Ranbir Buys Rs 33.1 mn

Ayodhya is emerging as a luxury real estate and spiritual tourism hub after the consecration of the Ram Mandir, attracting significant private investment. Several high profile figures from the film industry have acquired land in and around planned townships as the city develops. Amitabh Bachchan has been reported to have invested about Rs 900 million (mn) across multiple purchases, positioning him as one of the largest celebrity investors in the local market.

The actor is reported to have acquired a 10,000 square feet plot valued at about Rs 145 mn and an additional 5,372 square feet parcel valued at about Rs 45.4 mn. He subsequently bought a 25,000 square feet tract near the Sarayu Township for nearly Rs 400 mn. Through his family company AB Corp Ltd he is also reported to have acquired 67 acres for Rs 350 mn, while a 54,454 square feet parcel has been allotted to the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust where a memorial is expected to be built.

Ranbir Kapoor has purchased a 2,134 square feet premium plot in the Sarayu Township for around Rs 33.1 mn. The purchase has been characterised by the actor as a personal and long term family investment tied to his forthcoming role in a major cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana. The casting and film plans have contributed to renewed interest among buyers and developers in the region.

Public and private projects are accelerating the transformation, with reported developments valued at about Rs 850 billion (bn) aimed at enhancing road and rail links, airport facilities, hotels and luxury housing. Improved connectivity and planned tourist infrastructure are expected to support demand for high end residential plots and hospitality investment. Market observers note that celebrity involvement has both symbolic and commercial significance for Ayodhya's evolving property profile.
