The Cuddalore district consumer disputes redressal commission ordered the executive engineer (Mogappair division) of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, Chennai, and the board's managing director to pay 4% penal interest on a flat sale amount of 32.18 lakh for delay in handing over property possession to the complainant.

D Gopinath, commission president, and members VN Parthiban and T Kalaiyarasi directed the board to pay a 25,000 compensation for deficiency in service and causing mental agony, pain, and sufferings.

The Cuddalore district consumer disputes' redressal commission also directed the duo to pay the litigation cost of 10,000 to the complainant within two months. They said the complainant will be entitled to recover 35,000 with 9% interest from the date of the order to till the date of realization.
