The Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has launched a demand assessment portal on its official website to gauge public interest in housing projects proposed under the self-financing scheme. Residents can use the portal to register their preferred location, housing type and other requirements before the projects are taken up.

The initiative follows an announcement made during the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly session. The proposed developments cover eight locations: Anna Nagar, Purasaivakkam, Nandanam and Ernavur in Chennai; Gundurmalai in Cuddalore; Ellis Nagar in Madurai; Thirumazhisai in Tiruvallur; and Vallankumaravilai in Kanniyakumari.

The portal is intended to help the board assess demand before launching the projects. Its registration form is focused on identifying the locations and housing categories in which residents are seeking accommodation. The dedicated page is available on the TNHB website at tnhb.tn.gov.in/willingness-for-upcoming-projects.

TNHB has clarified that registering interest will be used only for demand assessment and will not confer any priority in the allotment of houses. The clarification separates the current registration exercise from the later process for inviting applications and allotting homes under the proposed projects.

People who successfully register their demand will receive SMS notifications when applications are invited, including information about the date and other details. These notifications will be sent after the projects have been taken up, indicating that the current exercise is an early stage of collecting public preferences rather than the final application process.

Residents interested in the listed locations have been asked to register at the earliest. The board’s assessment will cover demand across the proposed locations and the housing types selected by people using the portal, before the projects move towards the application stage.
