Mahindra Group Reinforces Focus On Real Estate And Hospitality

Mahindra Group has intensified its focus on real estate and hospitality as key growth sectors under a new sector structure, the group said. The move will align leadership and reporting frameworks across businesses to support expansion in both areas. The restructuring reflects a strategic push to leverage existing assets and scale operations in property and leisure hospitality.

Mahindra Lifespaces' industrial segment moved from losses to a profit of Rs three bn in the last fiscal year, the group added. The turnaround was highlighted as evidence of improved operational performance and portfolio optimisation. Executives said the industrial recovery provides a stronger earnings base and greater flexibility for capital allocation within the sector.

Mahindra Holidays has registered notable progress with over three lakh (zero point three mn) vacation ownership members and the addition of over 1,700 rooms, the group noted. The business is extending from vacation ownership into leisure hospitality with the aspiration of becoming India's leading hospitality player and has launched Mahindra Signature Resorts as an entry into luxury hospitality. Management indicated that the additions and the new resort brand are intended to deepen the group's presence in key tourist destinations and to broaden its appeal across market segments.

As part of the implementation, Amit Sinha, currently managing director and chief executive officer of Mahindra Lifespace Developers, will be appointed chief executive officer for the Holidays and Lifespaces sector from a future date to be determined. He will take up the position after a new chief executive officer is appointed at Mahindra Lifespaces. The group said leadership and reporting structures will be aligned as the changes are implemented and that the reorganisation is aimed at improving coordination and accelerating growth across sectors.
