CSIR-AMPRI Marks 46th Foundation Day and Transfers SODAR Technology
Dr Thallada Bhaskar, director of CSIR-AMPRI, outlined the institute's technology portfolio and emphasised the scientific and societal importance of SODAR for atmospheric profiling. He underlined its role in climate and environmental studies, particularly for addressing weather variability, improving forecasting and contributing to disaster risk reduction. The remarks framed the technology transfer as a response to pressing environmental monitoring needs.
Dr N. Kalaiselvi emphasised that science, innovation and technology driven developments are central to India’s progress towards a developed nation and indicated that the transfer reflects CSIR’s commitment to strengthening indigenous capacity under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. She noted that industry oriented innovations for environmental monitoring and air quality management would be accelerated through such partnerships and congratulated the principal investigator, Dr Kirti Soni, Scientist F at CSIR-AMPRI, for developing the indigenous SODAR system and translating research into societally relevant technology. The event highlighted the institution’s focus on converting research outcomes into deployable solutions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mohd. Akram Khan, Scientist G, and the singing of Vande Mataram followed by the National Anthem. The transfer of the SODAR system is expected to enable Meteoxperts to deploy indigenous atmospheric profiling capabilities for operational monitoring and research collaborations. CSIR-AMPRI signalled that such transfers form part of a sustained effort to link laboratory innovation with industry use for environmental benefit.
