Red Hat Launches EU-Based Support to Boost Digital Sovereignty

Red Hat, the global leader in enterprise open source solutions, has announced Red Hat Confirmed Sovereign Support for the 27 European Union member states. The initiative aims to strengthen digital sovereignty by offering dedicated, EU-citizen-driven technical support within the EU region.

This new service provides verifiable local control over IT operations, addressing Europe’s growing need for compliance, transparency, and operational autonomy. European businesses increasingly view digital sovereignty as vital for economic resilience, AI innovation, and secure data governance amid global geopolitical shifts.

Building on Red Hat’s decade-long expertise in regional support models, the offering features 24/7 in-region availability, localised control, and a verified EU-only support workforce. The company’s robust network of over 500 EU cloud partners further enhances resilience, helping reduce reliance on non-EU hyperscalers.

According to Red Hat, open source provides the most credible foundation for sovereignty, offering transparency and auditability essential to regulatory compliance. The company emphasised that unlike proprietary systems, its open hybrid cloud and AI portfolios enable organisations to maintain full control over their digital infrastructure.

Red Hat Confirmed Sovereign Support will be available from early 2026.

Chris Wright, CTO and Senior Vice President, Global Engineering, Red Hat, said: “Digital sovereignty means keeping control over your technology destiny—from data to operations. Red Hat’s new model delivers a fully EU-anchored, transparent, and auditable support framework run by EU citizens for EU organisations.”

Hans Roth, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMEA, Red Hat, added: “With this initiative, we are investing in European digital sovereignty. Control must start with the people who support the infrastructure, and Red Hat’s EU-based support team ensures that autonomy and resilience.”
