Afcons Infrastructure (Afcons) has won a contract worth Rs 5,301 crore for the construction of the breakwater at Vadhavan Port. The sum converts to Rs 53,010 mn, equivalent to Rs 53.01 bn, and will be recorded in the company order book. The award follows a tender process for marine works at the port. The award will be included in financial filings and recorded in company statements.

Adani-linked ITD Cementation was among the bidders shortlisted for the contract alongside other infrastructure firms. Afcons will undertake detailed engineering, procurement and marine construction to deliver the breakwater structure. The scope includes dredging and rock placement operations in coastal waters. The project requires specialised maritime construction techniques and deployment of heavy equipment.

The breakwater is intended to protect harbour facilities from wave action and to enable safer berthing and cargo operations at Vadhavan Port. Completion of the structure will form a critical element of the port’s coastal defence and berthing infrastructure. Engineering teams will assess seabed conditions and design measures to mitigate erosion and wave forces.

Contractors will coordinate with port authorities and marine agencies for logistics and environmental safeguards. The contract represents a significant marine order for Afcons and augments the company’s portfolio in port infrastructure. Financially, the assignment will contribute to revenue recognition over the execution period and will be reflected in project disclosures.
