Amit Shah Inaugurates Four Delhi Road Projects Worth Rs. 19.41 bn

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated four road infrastructure projects in Delhi on 29 September 2026, with a combined cost of Rs. 19.41 bn. The projects comprise the Barapullah Phase 3 elevated corridor, the Mukarba Chowk underpass, and foundation stones for the Modi Mill-Kalkaji flyover and Savitri Cinema half-flyover.

The Barapullah Phase 3 elevated corridor has a revised cost of about Rs. 16.35 bn. It is designed to provide signal-free connectivity between Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Sarai Kale Khan, linking East Delhi with South Delhi and providing onward connectivity towards AIIMS.

The project was approved in 2014 and construction began in 2015. Although it was initially targeted for completion in 2017, the corridor faced multiple delays. It has been described as India’s first flyover corridor with a dedicated cycle track and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.

The Mukarba Chowk project includes three underpasses near Haiderpur Badli Mor Metro station on the Outer Ring Road. The underpasses connect with traffic movement from NH-44 and are intended to support smoother movement of heavy vehicles in North Delhi. Mukarba Chowk is a major junction linking the Outer Ring Road with routes towards North and North-West Delhi.

The underpass works form part of road decongestion measures in the capital. The Barapullah corridor follows the Barapullah Nallah alignment and connects residential and institutional areas across the Yamuna river corridor. The Modi Mill-Kalkaji flyover and Savitri Cinema half-flyover are also part of urban road infrastructure development in South Delhi, with foundation stones laid for both projects.
