The Assam cabinet granted administrative approval for utilisation of Rs 21 billion (bn) towards land acquisition and development of the Aerotropolis Satellite City Project near Guwahati airport. The chief minister said the total acquisition would require about Rs 40 bn and that the sum for the first phase had been cleared. He said talks with land owners were under way.

The cabinet approved a draft lease deed between Assam Industrial Development Corporation Ltd and Indian Hotels Company Ltd for a Taj Gateway Hotel at Jagiroad, to support the ecosystem around the Tata semiconductor facility. The measure is intended to bolster ancillary services.

The council of ministers extended relaxation on fresh Aadhaar enrolment to the Moran and Matak communities for applicants aged 18 years and above until March 31, 2027. The move broadened an earlier concession for Tea Tribes and Adivasis, noting many members have yet to apply and there is no scope for illegal migrants. The decision aims to bring eligible indigenous groups into the formal identity system.

The cabinet approved zero agriculture tax until Rs 1 million (mn) net income for small tea growers and cleared a revised payment structure for the Foreign Language Training cum Implementation Partner under the CM-FLIGHT programme, under which each candidate will receive Rs 0.15 mn in four instalments. It approved a budget provision of about Rs 1.19 bn for 2026-27 to implement the Chief Minister's Jibon Prerana Scheme, which provides graduates with Rs 2,500 per month for a year.

Ministers approved a police verification requirement for government jobs, to be completed by police within six months, with non-submission leading to automatic confirmation of the position. The cabinet sanctioned amendments to jail rules to end caste discrimination, modernise sanitation and ensure fair work allocation. It also cleared a power purchase agreement to procure power at Rs 3.45 per unit from the 25 megawatt (MW) Namrup Solar PV Project for 25 years and approved release of Rs 4.5 bn as the first instalment to the Bodoland Territorial Council for 2026-27.
