Bansal Wire Industries Ltd (BWIL) has announced a new Rs 6 billion investment for a greenfield project in Gujarat. The plan includes setting up a 1.8 lakh-tonne induction-based steel plant and a 60,000-tonne facility for manufacturing low-carbon and stainless steel wires.

The company has acquired a 42-acre site in Sanand, near Tata Nagar, at a cost of Rs 800–900 million. The project is expected to be completed by September 2027.

This comes on the heels of BWIL’s recent Rs 5.5 billion expansion, which doubled its manufacturing capacity to 6 lakh tonnes across five units in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. It also inaugurated its largest and most advanced facility in Dadri, with a capacity of 3.6 lakh MTPA.

The latest investment will support BWIL’s growth in high-demand sectors including automotive, agriculture, power & transmission, construction, and general engineering. The new plant will also adopt a range of sustainable practices such as solar power, rainwater harvesting, acid-free wire cleaning, energy-efficient systems, and an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).

CEO and MD Pranav Bansal said the move reinforces BWIL’s focus on technology-driven and sustainable manufacturing. Part of the Bansal Group founded in 1938, BWIL is currently India’s largest stainless steel wire manufacturer and the second-largest overall wire producer by volume.
