BHEL Secures Order From Dangote Group
The scope of work covers manufacture and supply of the eight gas turbine generator packages together with supervision of erection and commissioning at the project site. The equipment will be manufactured at BHEL facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. BHEL described the contract as the company's largest ever single order on a supply and supervision basis for gas turbine generator packages in both quantity and value.
Company officials said the order will enhance BHEL's visibility worldwide and will demonstrate its capabilities as a global engineering enterprise. BHEL has built a strong presence across Africa through successful power projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Senegal and Sudan and has supplied a range of products to several other African nations. The group background was noted, with Dangote Group described as one of Africa's largest and most diversified conglomerates.
The company has previously executed an order for the supply and supervision of erection and commissioning of a 26 megawatt (MW) gas turbine generator package to the government of Cross River State in Nigeria. BHEL has been manufacturing and supplying gas turbines to domestic and international customers for over four decades and is regarded as one of the world's leading manufacturers of gas turbines and generators. It has supplied nearly 250 gas turbines with more than 20 per cent of deliveries to overseas customers, reflecting its engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
