Bihar Infrastructure Set for Major Transformation

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary (CM) said Bihar's infrastructure will undergo a major transformation in the coming years through multiple connectivity projects. He inaugurated the Navin Kishore Sinha Path, named after Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, and opened the road connecting Mandiri to Kali Mandir near Gandhi Maidan. He added that the route will be linked to Marine Drive by 31 March 2027.

Choudhary said Mandiri had long suffered traffic congestion and that the alternative route would ease movement and spur commercial development. He thanked former chief minister Nitish Kumar and Nitin Nabin for initiating the four-lane road project over the Mandiri drain to improve connectivity and cover the drain. He recalled initiating an experimental Ashiana-Digha drain road model when he served as urban development minister in 2014.

Similar roads are being constructed over the Saidpur and Rajeev Nagar drains. The government is planning new cities on both sides of Patna, including a Pataliputra township spread across nearly 66,000 acres and a township in Sonepur. Road, rail and air travel infrastructure are being expanded to support growth.

A bridge linking Didarganj, Kacchi Dargah, Raghopur and Hajipur is due to be inaugurated next month and will provide a new route to north Bihar. The Patna Metro project is being accelerated, and new airports are being developed in Sonepur and Bihta, while Patna Airport will be upgraded. These projects are intended to improve connectivity and urban services.

Nitin Nabin paid tribute to his late father and emphasised the original vision of converting major drains into road corridors. He said residents who live beside the drain will now have greater opportunities as the areas are redeveloped with parks, community halls and other civic infrastructure under government schemes. He noted that urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions have been empowered with greater autonomy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement such reforms.
