India could soon be home to its first-ever Disneyland-style amusement park, as the Haryana government holds preliminary talks with Disney and earmarks 500 acres near Manesar in Gurgaon for the landmark project, according to a report by the Times of India.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed that initial discussions are underway to establish India’s maiden Disneyland-type park near Pachgaon Chowk, Manesar. Positioned strategically close to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), the 500-acre site is ideally suited for high tourist footfall due to excellent regional connectivity.

The location is well-linked via key transit routes such as the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, and the upcoming Global City project—a 1,000-acre smart township that will enable walk-to-work models. The proposed amusement park is expected to benefit from this seamless mobility and attract both domestic and international tourists.

The state government views the project as a major economic driver. It is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities across sectors including hospitality, logistics, real estate, and retail. Local enterprises stand to gain significantly as increased tourism boosts regional demand.

Complementing the theme park, the Haryana government also plans to expand cultural initiatives. The International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra may see further development, and the iconic Surajkund Mela could be held up to three times a year. Plans are also under way for a Diwali festival and an international book fair at Surajkund to enrich the state’s cultural offerings.

This initiative marks a revival of a concept originally floated in 1989 by then Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, which failed to take off due to political and land-related challenges. More than three decades later, the idea is being revisited with greater clarity, stakeholder alignment, and infrastructure readiness.

The proposed Disneyland-style amusement park in Manesar has the potential to transform Haryana’s tourism landscape. With strong infrastructure support, a strategic location, and significant economic potential, the initiative could set a new benchmark for theme parks and family entertainment in India.
