The project focuses on restoring and upgrading the existing stormwater network to improve conveyance and reduce surface water accumulation during heavy rains. Work includes clearing accumulated debris and silt, repairing damaged channels and upgrading inlet points to enhance flow into the drain system. The authority is coordinating with municipal agencies and utility providers to align tasks and minimise service disruptions. The authority has prioritised clearance of critical chokepoints to expedite inflow.

Residents and business owners in and around Rajiv Chowk are expected to benefit from reduced waterlogging and fewer traffic interruptions during rain events once the scheme is operational. The authority said it is adopting a phased execution plan to maintain access for commuters and emergency services while major works proceed. Monitoring teams will oversee quality controls and ensure adherence to environmental safeguards throughout the remaining work. Stakeholders will receive regular progress updates through public briefings and digital channels.

Completion of this drain project is part of a broader effort by the authority to strengthen urban drainage and manage surface runoff across the city.
