Hindustan Construction Company Limited secured a contract valued at Rs 16,622.7 mn from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road Phase IV, awarded to the Aakshya-HCC joint venture in which HCC holds a 49 per cent stake. The award expands the company's urban transport portfolio and will require coordinated delivery across civil, traffic and utility management interfaces. The project is intended to improve east-west connectivity in Mumbai.

Phase I covers a second-level flyover of 1,330 metres with at-grade road works of 3,200 metres and free-left movements at grade totalling 2,620 metres, requiring integration with existing road levels and traffic systems. The works will include ramps and structural transitions and will demand phased traffic management and utility relocation to minimise disruption. Delivery will follow detailed design validation and staged execution plans aligned with municipal milestones.

Phase II comprises a cloverleaf interchange with loops and interchanges spanning 2,400 metres and free-left bypasses at grade of 3,600 metres, together with an obligatory cable-stayed span of 180 metres and ramps totalling 270 metres that will link elevated and at-grade elements. The project forms part of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road corridor being developed to strengthen east-west connectivity and is expected to improve traffic dispersal and journey times. Coordination between the joint venture and municipal authorities will be required to manage environmental, safety and construction sequencing obligations.

HCC said the award aligned with its strategic focus on transportation infrastructure and drew on an engineering heritage approaching 100 years, under which the group has executed 26 per cent of the nation’s hydro power generation capacity and 60 per cent of its nuclear power generation capacity, together with more than 4,036 lane km of expressways and highways, over 402 km of complex tunnelling and 403 bridges. The company will mobilise resources and technical teams to meet contractual timelines and regulatory approvals and will execute the work under established safety and quality standards.
