HIRECT Announces Advanced Copper Conductors From Nashik Plant

Hind Rectifiers Limited announced on 23 March 2026 the commercial availability of three high-performance copper conductor products: Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC) and Enamelled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC). The products are manufactured at a newly inaugurated copper processing plant in Sinnar, Nashik and are intended for transformers, traction motors and other high-power wound components. The conductors will support power grids, railway rolling stock and catenary power supply systems and are aimed at strengthening the company’s role in the transformer supply chain and expanding exports.

The new production lines provide flexibility in conductor sizing and insulation layers. For CTC the lines can handle five to 63 strands per conductor, with transposition pitches adjustable between 25 millimetres and 200 millimetres. PICC and EPICC lines cover copper widths up to 20 millimetres and thicknesses up to eight millimetres. Enamelling lines can apply four coating types and the paper insulation machinery can wrap up to 32 layers in a single pass for CTC and up to eight layers for PICC.

Overall insulation thickness can be controlled between zero point two five millimetres and five millimetres to meet various thermal and electrical classes. The CTC production area is maintained in a dust-free and air-conditioned environment. The company has implemented 100 per cent in-line optical testing across enamelling lines together with online pinhole and blister detection and precision measurement equipment capable of maintaining tolerances of plus or minus five microns. The supply chain is reported to comply with EU Conflict Minerals Regulations and the Responsible Minerals Initiative.

The Sinnar facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified and operates in-house testing laboratories including dielectric dissipation, high voltage breakdown, interstrand short testing and proof stress for CTC, PICC and EPICC. Hind Rectifiers employs 950 people across two manufacturing plants in Nashik and Bhandup and exports to over 30 countries. The company invited customers to contact its sales team for specifications and quotations and said every spool is subjected to key tests to meet international quality and performance standards.
