HNGIL Appoints Bharathi Mangaiahgari as CHRO
10 Apr 2026 CW Team
India’s leading container glass manufacturer, Hindusthan National Glass & Industries (HNGIL), has appointed Bharathi Mangaiahgari as Chief Human Resources Officer.
With nearly three decades of experience in human resources, Bharathi will work closely with the leadership team on the company’s people strategy and workforce planning. Her appointment comes as HNGIL sharpens its transformation agenda and operational priorities following a change in ownership last year.
Her experience spans technology, manufacturing, renewables, infrastructure, biotech, pharmaceuticals and EPC. She has also worked across international markets, including the US, the UK, Israel and Malaysia. A significant part of her career has focused on aligning HR operations across geographies, driving digital systems and strengthening leadership pipelines.
Bharathi most recently served as Vice President – Human Resources at Mahathi Infra Services. Earlier, she was CHRO at Patil Rail Infrastructure, where she led HR functions for a workforce of over 8,000 employees across multiple manufacturing locations. Her remit included compliance, governance and end-to-end HR digitisation.
Commenting on the appointment, Kumar Krishnan, Managing Director, HNGIL, said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Bharathi to HNGIL at a pivotal time in our journey. Her deep expertise in building high-performance organisations and leading HR transformation across diverse industries will be instrumental as we strengthen our people strategy and accelerate our next phase of growth.’
Bharathi’s appointment is among several senior leadership hires made since HNGIL’s acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation (INSCO), part of the Uganda-based Madhvani–Turner Group. The transaction, completed through the IBC process, closed in September 2025. The acquisition was led by Kamlesh Madhvani and Shrai Madhvani, with backing from Cerberus Capital Management and the International Finance Corporation.
Under its new ownership, HNGIL is undergoing a broad operational overhaul. The Madhvani Group has invested in plant modernisation, operational improvements and sustainability initiatives, while also aiming to expand volumes in both domestic and export markets. Six plants are currently operational at Rishra, Bahadurgarh, Rishikesh, Neemrana, Naidupeta and Puducherry.
Founded in 1946, HNGIL established India’s first fully automated glass manufacturing plant. The company currently has a presence across seven locations in India and serves customers in more than 23 countries.
