IGBC Green Summit Highlights Sustainable Urban Growth
Dr. Amarpal Singh, IAS (Retd.), highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into design and urban development, stressing that green building is a philosophy of responsible living. Rakesh Kumar Goyal, Chairperson, RERA Punjab, noted that energy-efficient and environmentally responsible projects are becoming key drivers of real estate value and stakeholder confidence.
Jagjit Singh Majha, Chairman, IGBC Chandigarh Chapter, underscored the need for high-performance buildings to optimise resources and enhance resilience, citing 1,700+ green projects across Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab, including 23 net-zero initiatives.
Panel discussions covered urban growth alignment, scalable high-performance solutions, low-carbon construction, and policy and financing frameworks to accelerate sustainable building adoption. Experts shared insights on integrated design, net-zero roadmaps, water-efficient infrastructure, and energy-conscious materials.
The summit concluded with a call for collaboration among government, industry, financial institutions, and urban planners to strengthen the Tricity region as a model for climate-responsive, future-ready development.
