IIPA To Develop AI Curriculum For Smart Governance

At the 72nd Founder’s Day of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh proposed that the institute be made the nodal body for developing artificial intelligence competencies among public sector officials and for preparing a curriculum for AI driven smart governance. He framed the measure as part of technology led administrative reform to strengthen public service delivery.

The minister said membership at the institute has expanded to around 11,000 and that 129 courses were conducted for nearly 6,000 officials this year.

He called for engagement with the private sector, the armed forces and elected representatives to deliver inclusive governance training and noted the introduction of specialised residential programmes for science administrators. The address highlighted district level IIPA chapters and district governance indices to strengthen grassroots administration and encourage data driven best practice sharing.

The minister announced the Saral AI portal through the Anusandhan National Research Foundation to translate technical advances into citizen friendly narratives and improve public understanding. He described the Rs 103.7 bn India AI Mission as central to strengthening research, innovation, infrastructure and skill development across the national AI ecosystem.

He said the Centre has provisioned 38,000 CPUs and 22,000 GPUs to scale AI programmes and accelerate deployment.
