Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated Jabil Inc.'s advanced manufacturing facility and an export-centric data centre ecosystem at Ranjangaon in Pune on 17 June 2026. The ceremony included senior leaders Dilip Walse Patil and Dnyaneshwar Katke, Jabil executive Andy Priestley and government officials. The project is presented as a strategic addition to the national electronics landscape aimed at producing components for high-performance data centre infrastructure.

Mr Vaishnaw emphasised that artificial intelligence has become a major global growth engine and that anchoring associated infrastructure domestically is a strategic priority under the Prime Minister's Make in India plan. He noted that AI data centres require major electronic components and that Jabil will manufacture these at the Pune facility, which is designed to meet domestic technology requirements while supplying global markets. The minister placed the plant within a broader policy focus on exports and domestic value addition.

The facility is described as a state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing setup capable of producing AI systems for data centre equipment, fifth-generation technology (5G), high-end networking gear, industrial power electronics and consumer electronics. Backed by policy cooperation, the project will drive a localisation programme that integrates domestic supply chains and micro, small and medium enterprises into global value chains. Company and government projections indicate the initiative will scale local employment up to 11,000 personnel.

The minister credited the Prime Minister's vision for transforming electronics manufacturing into a leading export pillar and highlighted the sector's expansion to a value of Rs 13 trillion. He outlined the export rank progression that has seen electronics rise from ninth into the top five and become the third largest export category in 2025, and he urged stakeholders to pursue process quality to reach second place. The government is committed to investing in talent development, training and specialised ecosystems for high-precision manufacturing. He also encouraged partnerships with precision equipment innovators such as Lyten to deepen localisation of supply chains.
