Jindal Steel has completed a six million tonnes per annum (mn t) expansion at its Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha by commissioning the third Basic Oxygen Furnace of three million tonnes per annum (mn t). The addition takes the plant's total crude steel capacity to 12 mn t, placing it among India's largest single-location integrated steel complexes.

The expansion completes the operationalisation of the second and third oxygen furnaces along with associated upstream and downstream facilities, including coke ovens and the cold rolled mill complex. This work included commissioning of auxiliary utilities and material handling systems to support continuous operations. The integrated infrastructure will ensure seamless capacity ramp-up and operational integration across the Angul site.

Following the Angul expansion, the company's overall crude steel capacity has increased to 15.6 mn t, including three point six mn t at its Raigarh facility. The expanded capacity is expected to drive higher volumes, improve capacity utilisation and support revenue growth while delivering operating leverage benefits. Scale and greater integration are likely to enhance margins, optimise costs and improve profitability.
