Karnataka Plans EV Charging Points on Key Highways

The Energy Department of Karnataka, through its state-owned utility BESCOM, has announced plans to make long-distance travel in electric vehicles (EVs) smoother by installing charging stations along major highways across the state.

According to officials, the initiative includes the installation of EV charging points along the Bengaluru–Belagavi National Highway (NH-48) and other toll routes throughout Karnataka.

The move aims to establish an extensive EV corridor network, reducing range anxiety for drivers and promoting the adoption of clean mobility solutions.

Energy department representatives said the project marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to support sustainable transportation and contribute to India’s broader electric mobility mission.

Once operational, the network of charging stations will enable seamless intercity EV travel and enhance the overall convenience of electric mobility for both residents and tourists.
